Taiko in Boca Raton, Florida/USA

Following the sound of the Japanese drums
  Taiko drumming in Boca Raton

Boca Raton, Florida/USA (2013) - When we hear the sound of drums we are immediately conquered by the rhythm of these instruments. Especially when multiple drummers start their rhythms. Maybe it has to do with the fact that drums once were used to communicate over great distances. And maybe we still hear some sort of message when we hear the drums. Taiko drummers in Boca Raton reminded me a while ago, how much I love the sound of the drums. In a park close to "Mizner Park" a few drummers used their Japanese percussion instruments to communicate to a very pleased crowd during an open-air concert. Japanese taiko drumming has a long history, it dates back more than 2,600 years. First used only in holy shrines, the drums were later used on the battlefield. Today the Taiko drums are used in festival settings and traditional events. Japanese Taiko drumming needs a lot of strengths and training. It's very popular in the South Florida region.
